FAQs

Read through some of our most commonly asked questions. If you cannot see the question you have, feel free to get in touch and we’ll do our best to assist you.

Will my kitchen be off limits?2021-04-09T12:36:39+00:00

The process will be quicker if we have uninterrupted access, if there is anything you need from your kitchen, we kindly ask this is removed prior to our arrival. If anything is forgotten and needed urgently this is allowed at all times except during spraying operations.

How long does the paint take to dry?2021-04-05T14:14:28+00:00

The paint will be touch dry within 1 hour. Even though the paint will appear and feel dry, we advise that you do not touch it for at least 24 hours and not to use any wet cloths or chemicals. Between this time, we advise only using a damp cloth. The full curing time of the paint for best protection is around 10 days.

Will I have to empty my kitchen?2021-04-05T14:14:32+00:00

We ask that you clear all worktops. Cupboards need not be emptied if you have chosen not to have the interiors sprayed. However, we do ask that there is enough room to protect any items in the cupboard. If you choose to have the internal cupboards sprayed, all items will need to be removed. As for the rest of your kitchen, we do our best to protect all areas from over spray using protective materials & masking.

Repair to items prior to spraying2021-04-05T14:14:39+00:00

To a degree we can assist with any repair works prior to coating, if you have laminate parts we may be able to simply glue this back or completely strip & fill any imperfections – subject to additional costs.

Wooden furniture where swelling has occurred or general damage: We may be able to sand back / fill & sand to a flat surface. Any repair works carried out may affect the guarantee of the coating as the adhesion will only be as good as the substrate.

Over spray2021-04-09T12:36:56+00:00

Due to the nature of spray applied coatings, there is always the risk of overspray. We mitigate this risk by masking all areas and faces not to be painted. For built in appliances such as fridges / washing machines / dishwashers etc, we mask & protect as far as reasonably practical, should you the client wish for these items to be removed out of the way prior to coating, please arrange for this to be done by a suitably qualified person prior to our arrival on site.

Smell of paint/fumes2021-04-05T14:14:48+00:00

Minimal, our work area will be encapsulated & contained creating a miniature spray room during spraying operations. Until our time on site comes to an end all reasonably practical vents & windows will be opened to allow fresh air in, we also use extraction equipment.

Will the paint chip/peel/scratch?2021-04-05T14:14:52+00:00

The products we use are solvent based two component polyurethane, this means after the elapsed curing times the coating forms an extremely hard wearing & tough surface. The product itself is not indestructible like any other coating and still subject to accidental chipping & scratching, but is much more hard wearing and has many advantages over products such as water based, pre-cat, alkyd etc.

What is included in our quotes?2021-04-05T14:14:57+00:00

Way of payment2021-04-05T14:13:57+00:00

As per terms on our estimate, we accept cash & card payment. Final payment due on completion.

Should I decorate first?2021-04-09T18:53:36+00:00

We advise that all works other than decorating are completed prior to our arrival on site, such as tiling / worktop installation / flooring. This is just in case this work damages our painted surfaces. We advise that decorating is carried out either post respraying or in between our time on-site spraying has finished & works carried out off site. We use low tack masking tape for protecting walls, but we cannot guarantee that this will not pull fresh paint from the walls. Paint Boxx Ltd cannot be held accountable if this happens.

Aftercare – post spray2021-04-09T12:37:19+00:00

After the first 24 hours of spraying, we advise only gently wiping down with a smooth damp cloth. Wet cloths / chemicals / rough cloths may damage the finish & invalidate any warranties given. After 10 days the coating will be fully cured and can be treated like normal furniture. As with any coating, rubbing with harsh chemicals / rough cleaning items may scratch or damage the coating.

Do you offer a warranty2021-04-09T12:37:05+00:00

The products we use are industry standard and certified to ISO 12944, this means our applied coatings carry a 10-year durability against flaking / peeling / bubbling. Accidental damage such as chips / scratches / scrapes etc are not covered under our warranty. We can provide touch up if needed at an additional cost.
